What do you know about chiropractor treatment?

Monday, September 12th, 2011

I saw a chiropractor for my neck pain. He took full spine Xrays and says he saw several areas of my spine that need adjustment. He proposed a long drawn out treatment plan, that includes adjusting the lower spine first, to correct a tilted spine. He will start out working the spine from the bottom up. My neck is what hurts, my lower back does not bother me. I am leary of this, what do you think?

How to crack my back-Chiropractor style?

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Does anyone know some safe ways I can crack my back (or with the wife’s help) to help with low back pain or neck pain? Can you describe the technique? For example: "lay on left side and bring right knee up to chest and apply pressure to the outer thigh"

Has anyone tried a "upper cervical "specific" chiropractor to treat migraine headaches?

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

I have been suffering from migraine headaches for 17 years. I go to a regular chiropractor at least once a week and it works to relieve the pain once I already have a headache but it does not prevent me from getting a migraine. Now after years of going to the chiropractor the headaches and the neck pain seem to be coming more often. I have been reading about upper cervical specific chiropractors, it seems like this may be my answer but it is very expensive and my insurance does not cover the cost. Has anyone out there gone to one of these chiropractors for their migraine headaches? Or if you have any other advice on how I can get ride of these migrains let me know. I am not interested in taking perscriptions though, I have done it before and it works to releive the pain but I feel that it only masks the problem.

Back Pain from sport – Do I need to see a chiropractor?

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

I hurt my back when I played badminton. At the beginining, it was only some muscle pain. Once the muscle stopped hurting, my lower back hurts when I get up from the chair or bed. When I walk, I am okay. However, when I sit for a while on the chair, it hurts.

In the past, I had some neck pain. I asked my family doctor to refer me to see a chiropractor. He said my insurance won’t approve me to see a chirpractor. I had set up an appointment to see my family doctor next week. I got a feeling he won’t refer me to see chirpractor again. What can I do?
What can cause the pain from my back?

Some kid nailed me in upper back during ultimate frisbee. Long story, please help, thanks?

Friday, January 7th, 2011

I asked a question earlier about ways I can get treatment for an incident. This is basically the situation: "I was playing ultimate frisbee, and some kid (that everyone thinks is annoying and weird [i'm one of the few people who don't constantly and jokingly make fun of him]) punched me extremely hard on my upper back and my neck made a loud cracking noise (he told me he did it since he was "into the game". there was absolutely no need for his sudden movement. we were just standing next to each other, not even guarding each other.)

Now, the base of my neck is noticeably shaped differently- the right side of my neck is shaped as if you can see the base of my neck (like, my shoulder isn’t connected fluidly/properly to my neck).

It may seem like a minor issue, but this is my physical appearance. Is there any possibility (as in beauty treatment, surgery, etc.) of fixing the shape of my neck, and how do I go about getting this treatment? I’ll try to get this kid to pay for it, but the first priority is to get my neck fixed."

A few other notes: It’s been a month since the incident. A few days after the incident, in addition to the changed appearance of my neck, I experienced moderate neck pain. I also get throat discomfort sometimes when I am playing chess and staying in the same position for a long time. Also, I never saw a doctor since my mom (I’m 16) said I didn’t need to see one.

I’m thinking about chiropractic treatment or osteopathy.

I wanted to take this to a small claims court. I’m even more motivated to do that after this dialogue through facebook, when I asked if he’d pay for my doctor’s visit:
"would you agree to paying for my doctor’s visit? it may sound cheap, but you did do it flagrantly and clearly not by accident. i know you didn’t mean to do anything bad, but still.

as in a doctor’s visit to see if i have a broken neck or something"

"ur kidding right?"

"uh, no i’m not kidding, and i’m taking that as a "no". We’ll figure things out from here, then.

don’t take that as a threat. i’m just letting you know we’ll figure things out from here."

"u think u can threaten me like that ken son? u can go fuck urself im not paying for shit. stop bein a pussy. also tell big papa rob tat i quit chess next yr and tat hes a doshe bag. tat fucker made me carrie the crate around all yr nd never even said thank u once. ken son fuck u and all the chess people, this is the last fucking straw. "
But i’m sure there’s still something I can do to that guy, even though it’s been a month. I’m just not sure what.

Spinal Cord Stimulator Success anyone? Help Please!?

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

I’m having a trial scs in about 8 days. I ruptured a disc in my neck in 2002 and currently have pain in both shoulders at the top along with pain and spasms in my trap muscles more to the right and also have pain in my mid-back area near the shoulder blade on the right side. I initially had pain that went down both arms but that was helped with the epidural two months after my disc injury. My surgery wasn’t untill 2004 because all the MRI’s only showed a bulging disc. The surgery took away my numbness in my fingers and my other arm stopped jumping upward. I’ve done everything else (epidurals, high doses of narcotics, injections, physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, & acupuncture) to help manage my severe pain for the last 6 years. I also got diagnosed with RSD/CRPS in March 2008. I don’t have any extremity pain like arm pain anymore except in my traps going down my back near the shoulder blade. I’m having doubts that this will work for me since I heard somewhere on the net that it usually works in people who have extremity pain not just back or neck pain.

Has anyone had success with this and did they have extremity pain or not?

Thank you so far for the responses. I did email the first responder. To the second one, wow I’m glad it has helped you but sad to hear you are still on meds. Maybe you don’t take as much though? Anyway I’ll see how it goes next week. I’m hopeful this will work. The Norco for me didn’t touch my pain and the morphine I’m on now manages my pain even though I still have some pain. At least I’m not in bed all the time but I don’t want to stay on the morphine as it has side effects. Thanks so much so far. I will be checking for more responses or they can email me directly through this site if they want.

I want to settle my workmans comp claim, but haven't reached MMI. Also, what happens if I switch lawyers?

Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010

brief overview: was injured in car accident while on the job last year. workcomp dr said reached MMI, IME dr said i am only at 13%. comp dr had to reevaluate me. even tho documented that PT treatments make my neck pain and migraines worse, still scheduled me for 2x/week for next 3 weeks. Also documented that certain meds make me ill but he represcribed those. he ignored notes from IME dr about scripts to try and that I need injections and possibly surgery. instead the wkcomp dr said i need another MRI (still hasnt schedld it). I cant go thru this again. I want to try "alternative" treatment like chiropractic and acupuncture but wrkcomp wont approve. will it affect my settlement if I want to settle before reaching MMI? The wrkcomp dr/treatment is a joke! Im still always in pain. My lawyer doesnt seem very aggressive at all, can I switch to a more aggresssive atty, and if I do, how does paying the 1st one work (retained on contingency basis)? plz answer soon, have appt with atty in 2 hr
ps: I am more concerned w/ my recovery than the money from settlement, but I dont want to screw myself nd have to pay for alternative treatments out of my own pocket down the road, either.
oh, the guy who hit me (or rather his insurance company) is being sued at the same time, so i dont know if the not reaching MMI pertains to them as well or strictly workmans comp.

How can I find a reliable chiropractor?

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

I’m having some chest and neck pain and just got checked out by my doc who found no cardiac or respiratory problems and ruled out stress/anxiety so he strongly feels it’s muscular/skeletal. I’m also having headaches that start in my neck. He recommended seeing a chiropractor but I have no idea how to start looking. What criteria do I use in choosing one? What are good questions to ask? Thanks!!

I cant turn my head side to side after being adjusted at the chiropractor. What could be wong?

Friday, September 17th, 2010

I visited a chiropractor yesterday for the second day of my treatment for back pain. He adjusted my neck because it was stiff, after leaving I had a bad headache and it continued until I went to sleep. I also havent been able to turn my head side to side after being adjusted. I am very worried about it, esp. because I have never had neck pain before. Thanks for the help.

I have had neck pain for about 6 months now, it is on the right side of my neck. I hurt it at work while lifting something heavy. I have seen the doctor at work, but all he ordered is physical therapy and that helped a little, but not that much. The pain is slowly getting better over time. I do not want surgery, so was wondering what experiences people have had with chiropractors for treating neck pain. How often and how long do you have to see them?
