What do you know about chiropractor treatment?

Monday, September 12th, 2011

I saw a chiropractor for my neck pain. He took full spine Xrays and says he saw several areas of my spine that need adjustment. He proposed a long drawn out treatment plan, that includes adjusting the lower spine first, to correct a tilted spine. He will start out working the spine from the bottom up. My neck is what hurts, my lower back does not bother me. I am leary of this, what do you think?

Straightening of the cervical lordosis?

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

hi, I was recently diagnosed (from what the xrays shown) with straightening of the normal cervical lordosis. I know lordosis is the natural curve in your cervical spine. I am currently getting treated for this but I was curious if anyone knows if surgery can correct this? I would do everything I can before having to go through surgery (except pain injections).
I have this problem due to a past car accident and suffered major (obviously) whiplash.
If someone could give advise on treatments (besides chiropractic, i am doing that now :) ) that would be great.

Should I adopt a dog with a known leg problem?

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Need advice on if we should adopt a dog with a known problem.

There is a rescue dog that failed his xrays as well as kennel stress for the Freedom Service Dog program. We met him the other day while volunteering there. He was an amazing ball player and knew sit and wait and would automatically drop it. He was fast and we did not know anything was wrong.

Xrays showed that he had an interlocking pin in the femur of his left hind leg. That leg is now a little shorter and the femur angles laterally. He a 1 ½ years old and weighs 56 pounds. He looks pretty lab-ish, but might have a mix in him. No more info on him other than he came from Table Mountain Animal Shelter as a stray.

With the shorter leg and the laterally rotated femur, he is at more risk for an ACL tear according to my animal chiropractor. It also puts him at more risk for arthritis in his hips and pelvis. She also said if he blew the knee, he might do better without the leg. With all the healing modalities I do (animal chiropractics, acupressure, magnetics, massage, and a variety of energy work), he would be a lucky dog – however, I don’t want to be looking at surgery, big bucks and heart ache.

Any advice or insight would be wonderful. Thanks!
We are fostering to adopt him. He is doing fantastic in our home, except our 16 year old lab mix will sometimes show her teeth to him and looks like she would like to grab his neck (any advice on introducing a new dog to the home). They do fine on walks together. Will be talking to the vet that examined him soon. Hoping and praying it all works out as he is a fantastic dog.

Is Chiropractic my best choice. I have just found out I have a several twists in my spine and other things.?

Sunday, January 16th, 2011

They want me to start a year of treatments. I have lost all the arches in my feet, I have a very misaligned spine pinching many nerves. I have lost the natural curve in my neck and in my lower back. I have several twist in the neck and spine that are causing 14 bone spurs in my neck and in my lower back. I have severe Subluxations in the spine by the thermal Scan. These should all be white and mine are almost in the purple area. They done several Xrays and they really look nasty. Said if I would have waited a week or 2 I would have more then likely been heading for a wheel chair. That If the treatment does not work I am facing a Spine surgery from my head to my tail bone. My fear is if they get my spine in alignment what will happen to all the bone spurs by my spine? And What if I let them munipulate my back and they get it wrong If I could end up Parilized? I am scared seriously. Should I do the treatment or stay away. I really like the Doctor But I am only 49 and do not want to end up in a chair for the rest of my life. But I have been in Severe Pain for 49 years. And I am interested in things that do NOT involve Pills or surgery.
The reason I say pain for 49 years is I have Bacterial, viral Spinal Meningitus at 2 months old. And my parents were told I would be in a wheel chair before I was 30. I broke my shoulder in 1992 and was told after an MRI I had Degenerative Spinal Disc Disease. Was sent to a Pain management doctor. Pill after pill nothing worked. Only made me sicker. Then I was told I had a Ulcer from the Meds. And Then I tore the muscles from my spine. Days in the Hospital. Was told only choice was Surgery. Was given an 80/20 chance. Doctor said 80% chance of being a Cripple and 20 % chance of Dying I said NO. He threw my chart and stormed out of the Room. Then I was told I had Chronic Benign Pain Syndrome it was All In My Head. Take these pills be all better. Yet worsed again. I quit doctoring Went into Remission for 5 years never took anything except an occasional Ibuprofen. Done great. Then the Stress level worsened. Husband had an affair. And family problems. And my health went to pot. So I decided

What do I do about the pain from bulging discs?

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

A little over a year ago I got into a pretty bad car accident. My car was totaled(windshield cracked, front end ripped off) (a guy and his friends with no license, registered vehicle or insurance hit me when I had a green light). Well I didn’t go in the ambulance that night because I felt fine and thought it would be unnecessary, but on the ride home my neck started to hurt. So my parents took me to the ER just to be safe. They put me in a brace, took a CAT scan. The next day I went to a chiropractor that I would be seeing for the next year and 10 days(as of tonight). After Xrays, I was told to have had bulging discs in my neck and back. I never really knew all of the specifics but was told I should get an MRI if my insurance would cover it a while ago. It started with chiropractic adjustments 3 times a week, then 3 times and massage, then 2 and massage, then my insurance stopped paying. (no more massages, but he still adjusted me). I had a very busy schedule as it was my senior year and I was involved in countless activities(I would sometimes have to leave school at lunch for appointments) so I did have some gaps in my care, like if I couldn’t go to an appointment, then I didn’t have another one set up. I know that caused a problem, but started regularly again, and just recently massages again. I kind of started to live with all of the pain. Until recently, I’ve been in as much pain as I was when I first got into the accident. I finally stood up and confronted my chiropractor at one of my re-exams and told him how I couldn’t stand for 30 minutes doing the dishes without back pain, constant neck and head aches and how I was constantly miserable from the pain, sometimes in tears. I was told I should have been healed after about 6-8 weeks. and here I am over 50 weeks later always in pain. I feel like a 60 year-old and I’m only 17. What am I supposed to do? The treatments help somewhat, but not well enough to keep me out of pain and I can’t stand the thought of living like this for the rest of my life. I don’t want surgery because only 51% of back surgery is effective and that’s a bit extreme for a 17-year old’s back pains, I think. Also, I don’t want to be bed ridden in pain for hours at a time before the age of 25. I just don’t know what to do, but the pain is driving me crazy. Any suggestions would be great.
Thank you all so much, my chiropractor is a part of a network of doctors that do non-surgical spinal decompression, but it’s ,000 and I can’t swing that going to a private university. I didn’t know that an inversion table would do the same thing. I usually take ibuprofen and it doesn’t work, and I took aleve last night and it did help. I will look into the other options and I’m planning on getting an MRI to make sure it is just a bulging disc and I’ll speak with my doctor about the other options. Thank you all once again. You can’t believe how relieving it is to know there are other options.

How do I know if my Chiropractor is good?

Friday, October 1st, 2010

My chiropractor says that I have some rotation in my spine. He is treating with some manipulation with an instrument (not his hands). Is this technique effective? How can I evaluate him and know that what he is doing will fix my problem? I am not even sure if this is a serious problem or not, but plan on taking my xrays to the doctor. Thanks for your help
